New Soy Wax Candles

Soy Candles in Jute Bag

Well I have been busy again.  With the nice weather we have been having lately seems my creativity has been given a bit of a boost.

For the more echo minded I have created more in my Soy Candle Line.  Not only do you get two Soy Wax candles in lovely hexagonal jars but these are presented in a lovely Jute Bag.  The candles are made from 100% natural soy wax and combined with the Jute Bag made from renewable natural sources.

Glass Soy Votives

Glass Votive candles

Well have been messing about with some soy wax that I got and I am pretty pleased with the results.  The wax is great and the really really good bit is it can be washed off with ordinary detergent and hot water.

Yes it is a Candle!!

eclairsmall1.jpgThis is the size of a real chocolate eclair but I wouldn’t advise trying to take a bit of this as it is made from wax and scented lovely Chocolate.

I have been approached by a Cancer Research Charity in Essex who are having a chocolate ball in November and were looking for donations of anything chocolate related.  They asked if I would give them some of the eclair candles and I gladly said yes.

You can see these on my website -  www.candles-by-lisa.co.uk

Smelly Little Pumpkin

 halloween.jpg

I have made these little candles for a craft fair at Halloween.  They are scented with pumpkin fragrance and were the very devil to make!!! (no pun intended).  The shell of the candle is made with orange wax scented with pumpkin and the inside wax is made using blood red wax scented pumpkin so will look pretty freaky when they melt!

What is happening to British Craft Fairs

I just wondered if anyone has noticed a down turn in Craft Events in Britain.  This year I have found the attendance and people buying from craft fairs has been extremely low.

Could it be that people aren’t looking for handcrafted/made items which are a bit more expensive than you would get in the supermarket, because we don’t have the huge buying power of the big chain stores, plus we have a passion for our craft and I know like very many crafters out there we are perfectionists and would not want to sell something that was less than perfect!!!

Or is it that people have less disposable income because of interest rates rising and have to settle for the less expensive options?

Candles by Lisa - a First

Well here I am and what do I write that wont send you all off to the land of nod.

Well as the title goes I am Lisa and funnily enough I make handmade candles.  I have 2 kids my son is 14 and my daughter is 11 going on 21 it seems.  I work full time for the NHS and make candles every other waking, breathing minute that I get.  I have tried quite a few crafts before but nothing has captured me the way that candle making has.  I have been making candles now for more years than I care to remember really but have only recently set up my web site and things are pretty busy just now so I really hope this keeps up.

I attend a lot of craft fairs throughout the year which I really enjoy there is nothing better than meeting the people who buy your product face to face and getting there comments.  My next event is on the 28th and 29th August at the Callander Highland Games and I really hope the rain stays off long enough to let the field dry out!!

I have to say many thanks to Mr M from the Craft Forum for asking me to join this blog and of course jumped at the chance.

I hope you haven’t all fallen asleep and look forward to many more happy blogs!!Heart Shaped Candle
